First 90 Days as Selectman

The first 90 days in office set the foundation for long-term success. My priority will be to assess town operations, enhance public engagement, address pressing infrastructure concerns, and implement transparency measures that ensure residents have a clear understanding of how their town government operates.

Structured, proactive, and community focused.

Conducting a Comprehensive Budget & Operations Review

1. Meet with department heads and town officials to review current budgets, upcoming expenditures, and areas where efficiency can be improved.

2. Assess ongoing and planned projects to ensure they align with town priorities and financial sustainability.

3. Identify funding opportunities and grant applications to ease the tax burden while maintaining necessary services.

4. Audit financial reporting procedures to ensure fiscal responsibility and budget clarity.

Strengthening Public Engagement & Communication

1. Host a “Meet Your Selectman” event to connect with residents in a casual, open forum.

2. Launch Quarterly Town Hall Meetings to create direct opportunities for residents to ask questions, provide feedback, and stay informed.

3. Initiate a Board of Selectmen Newsletter/Memo providing updates on town decisions, upcoming issues, and board actions.

4. Launch an online “Ask Your Selectman” portal where residents can submit questions and concerns directly to the board for discussion.

5. Enhance the town’s digital presence by improving the website for easier access to town budgets, public records, and meeting minutes.

6. Develop a structured approach to official social media updates to keep residents informed of major developments.

7. Identify committees that need volunteers and actively recruit diverse community voices.

8. Engage with local business owners to discuss their concerns, growth opportunities, and ways the town can support the business community.

Infrastructure & Public Services Prioritization

1. Conduct a town-wide infrastructure assessment to identify and prioritize critical road repairs, public building maintenance, and utility needs.

2. Meet with public works and emergency services to ensure police, fire, and EMS have the resources necessary to serve the town effectively.

3. Assess the efficiency of town services to identify areas where processes can be streamlined to better serve residents and businesses.

4. Work with applicable regional planning groups to identify potential infrastructure collaborations and funding opportunities.

Volunteer Recognition & Civic Engagement Initiatives

1. Establish a Volunteer Recognition Program to highlight outstanding contributions by community members who dedicate their time to improving Rindge.

2. Launch a Junior Selectman Program that introduces young residents to local government, giving them a chance to engage in civic matters and participate in town discussions.

3. Develop a Civic Education Series on town governance to help residents understand municipal operations, budgeting, and policy-making.

4. Expand volunteer opportunities to encourage more resident participation in boards, committees, and community initiatives.

State & Regional Advocacy for Rindge’s Interests

1. Engage with state representatives and officials to advocate for Rindge’s priorities regarding infrastructure funding, school funding, and town autonomy.

2. Collaborate with neighboring towns on shared services opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining high-quality services.

3. Monitor state legislation that could impact Rindge and ensure that local concerns are voiced effectively.

Exploring the Feasibility of a Town Charter

1. Assess the viability of a Town Charter to provide a structured governance framework that ensures long-term stability.

2. Host informational sessions with residents to discuss the potential impact and gather community input before moving forward with recommendations.

Laying the Groundwork for Long-Term Success

1. Set clear goals and performance benchmarks to track progress and ensure accountability in governance.

2. Develop a framework for regular policy and budget reviews to keep government operations aligned with resident priorities.

3. Foster a collaborative working relationship with fellow Select Board members, department heads, and residents to build trust and effectiveness in governance.

In Summary

These first 90 days will be action-oriented, ensuring that I listen, assess, and take decisive steps to strengthen Rindge’s governance, fiscal responsibility, and public engagement. By setting a strong foundation early, I will ensure that my tenure as Selectman is one of transparency, effectiveness, and long-term success.
