Town Charter
Managing budgets while wisely supporting safety and public services and infrastructure management.
Rindge’s residents work hard for what they have, and they deserve a town government that respects those efforts by managing taxpayer dollars wisely. As a Selectman, I will prioritize fiscal responsibility to ensure our town remains financially stable while continuing to provide the vital services we all rely on — from public safety to infrastructure.
Maintaining a stable tax rate is critical for families, seniors, and small businesses alike. I believe responsible budgeting is about making smart decisions that prioritize needs over wants — ensuring our town lives within its means while still investing in what matters most.
Expanding the Tax Base Responsibly: Rindge can’t afford to place the burden of rising costs solely on homeowners. By encouraging responsible growth that attracts new businesses and appropriate development, we can expand our tax base and reduce pressure on individual taxpayers.
Preserving Core Services: I believe our police, fire, and emergency services are non-negotiable — these are essential investments in our community’s safety, well-being, and future. My commitment is to ensure these services are funded responsibly without placing an undue burden on taxpayers.
Preventing Wasteful Spending: I will advocate for thorough budget reviews to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and prioritize funding where it’s needed most. Every dollar spent should serve a purpose — one that reflects the needs and priorities of Rindge residents.
Fiscal responsibility isn’t about cutting corners — it’s about making deliberate, well-informed decisions that protect taxpayers while ensuring Rindge remains strong and resilient.
Long-Term Planning: I will support forward-thinking financial planning that anticipates future costs — including infrastructure repairs, equipment replacements, and public safety needs — so we aren’t forced into costly emergency spending down the road.
Proactive Infrastructure Management: Roads, bridges, and municipal buildings are the backbone of our community. I believe in routine maintenance and strategic investments to extend the life of our infrastructure and prevent costly breakdowns.
Accountability & Transparency: As Selectman, I will ensure Rindge residents know where their tax dollars are going. I believe in clear communication about the town’s budget, spending decisions, and financial priorities.
Grants & Alternative Funding: Rindge has untapped opportunities to pursue grants, state funding, and partnerships to help offset costs. I will actively seek these resources to reduce the burden on taxpayers while still funding critical projects.
I believe in finding the balance between preserving what makes Rindge special and preparing for the challenges ahead. By managing budgets responsibly, planning for future needs, and pursuing smart growth strategies, we can maintain the services our community depends on without overburdening taxpayers.
Rindge deserves leaders who treat every tax dollar with respect — leaders who understand that financial responsibility isn’t just about cutting costs, but about investing wisely in what matters most. As Selectman, I will prioritize smart spending, protect essential services, and keep tax stability at the forefront of every decision I make.
Prioritizing proactive planning and smart investments to ensure Rindge’s infrastructure and public services remain strong.
Rindge’s roads, bridges, public buildings, and essential services are the backbone of our community. From the fire station and police department to our town roads and water systems, these critical resources keep us safe, connected, and thriving.
Maintaining and improving infrastructure is about more than just patching potholes — it’s about planning ahead to avoid costly emergency repairs and ensuring our town’s facilities are safe, efficient, and reliable.
Proactive Maintenance & Planning: Delaying infrastructure repairs often leads to higher costs down the road. I will advocate for a long-term maintenance plan that identifies priority projects before they become urgent — saving taxpayers money in the long run.
Improving Road Safety & Conditions: Rindge’s roads are essential for residents, businesses, and emergency services. I’ll support strategic investments in road repairs, improved drainage systems, and safer intersections to ensure our roadways are maintained responsibly.
Upgrading Aging Facilities: Our town buildings — including public safety facilities and municipal offices — must meet the demands of a growing community. I will advocate for cost-effective upgrades that improve efficiency and ensure public safety officials have the tools they need to respond quickly and effectively.
Exploring Alternative Funding Sources: Maintaining infrastructure shouldn’t fall solely on taxpayers. I’ll actively pursue grants, state funding, and partnership opportunities to help offset costs and reduce the financial burden on residents.
Rindge’s police officers, firefighters, emergency responders, and public works employees work tirelessly to keep our town safe and functional. As a Selectman, I believe in empowering these dedicated professionals by ensuring they have the resources, training, and support they need to do their jobs effectively.
Supporting First Responders: I will advocate for appropriate staffing levels, modern equipment, and ongoing training to ensure our police, fire, and EMS teams can continue to provide top-notch service to our residents.
Investing in Emergency Preparedness: I will support proactive measures to improve Rindge’s readiness for emergencies — from natural disasters to major public safety incidents — ensuring our first responders are equipped to handle unexpected challenges.
Strengthening Collaboration: I believe in fostering strong relationships between town officials, department heads, and public service leaders. By maintaining open communication and providing consistent support, we can ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Rindge’s infrastructure and public services are vital to our safety, quality of life, and economic stability. I believe in a balanced approach that ensures we invest in what’s necessary — without placing an unnecessary burden on taxpayers.
Smart investments in infrastructure and public services are investments in Rindge’s future. As Selectman, I’ll work to ensure our town’s roads, facilities, and essential services are well-maintained, properly funded, and designed to meet the needs of our community for years to come.
Engaging with state representatives and officials to advocate for Rindge's priorities.
Rindge’s challenges and priorities don’t stop at our town’s borders — many of the issues we face are shaped by state laws, regional policies, and funding decisions made in Concord and beyond. As a Selectman, I will be a proactive advocate for Rindge, working with state officials, regional organizations, and neighboring communities to ensure our town’s needs are represented, respected, and prioritized.
Rindge deserves a strong voice at the state level — one that fights for our community’s interests while seeking solutions that align with our values and goals. As Selectman, I will:
Engage with State Representatives and Officials: I will maintain regular communication with our state representatives and senators to ensure they understand Rindge’s priorities — whether it’s protecting property rights, improving education funding, or securing support for public safety initiatives.
Advocate for Fair Funding: Many state funding decisions — from school aid to infrastructure grants — have a direct impact on Rindge’s budget. I will advocate for funding formulas and policies that ensure our town receives its fair share without forcing local taxpayers to shoulder an undue burden.
Support Public Safety Resources: I will work to secure state-level resources that strengthen Rindge’s emergency services, from grant funding for fire and police equipment to support for regional emergency preparedness programs.
Protect Local Control: While state policies are important, Rindge’s residents deserve a say in how their town grows and develops. I will oppose one-size-fits-all mandates that undermine our town’s ability to make decisions that reflect local values and priorities.
Rindge is not an island — our economy, infrastructure, and public services are closely tied to those of surrounding towns and regional agencies. By working together, we can strengthen services and unlock new opportunities. As Selectman, I will:
Collaborate with Regional Leaders: I’ll actively participate in regional discussions to explore cooperative solutions for shared challenges — such as road improvements, emergency response coordination, and economic development strategies.
Strengthen Relationships with Franklin Pierce University: As a key part of our local economy and community, Franklin Pierce University plays an important role in Rindge’s future. I will advocate for stronger partnerships between the town and the university — creating opportunities for students to engage in town affairs while supporting local businesses and community initiatives.
Pursue Regional Grant Opportunities: Many state and federal grants are designed for regional partnerships. I will actively seek these funding sources to reduce the financial burden on Rindge residents while improving infrastructure, public services, and community programs.
As Selectman, I will approach state and regional advocacy with a simple goal: to protect Rindge’s interests while building opportunities for our town to thrive. I will work to ensure that Rindge’s values are respected in Concord, our concerns are addressed in regional conversations, and that our town receives the resources and support it needs to succeed.
Rindge deserves a voice at the table — one that advocates for our values, protects our interests, and fights for fair treatment. As Selectman, I will be that voice.
Protecting Rindge’s rural character is a priority, but smart balanced growth is necessary to sustain the town’s long-term success.
Rindge’s rural charm, natural beauty, and small-town feel are what make it such a special place to live. Protecting that character is a priority — but ensuring Rindge’s long-term stability requires smart, balanced growth that strengthens our tax base, supports public services, and keeps our community thriving.
As a Selectman, I believe Rindge can grow in a way that maintains our town’s unique identity while addressing the economic challenges we face. With thoughtful planning and community input, we can encourage development that meets our needs without sacrificing what makes Rindge special.
Responsible growth isn’t about overdevelopment — it’s about being proactive instead of reactive. We must plan thoughtfully to ensure new growth benefits the town rather than burdening it.
Encouraging Growth in the Right Places: I will support policies that steer development to appropriate areas — such as along existing commercial corridors — while protecting Rindge’s forests, wetlands, and open spaces.
Attracting the Right Kind of Businesses: By encouraging small businesses, locally owned shops, and family-oriented services, we can expand our tax base without compromising Rindge’s character.
Supporting Housing that Meets Our Needs: Growth should reflect the needs of our residents. I will support housing options that are appropriate for Rindge — such as modest, well-planned developments that provide opportunities for young families, seniors, and workforce residents without overloading town services.
Preserving Open Spaces and Rural Landscapes: Growth and conservation can go hand in hand. I will support policies that allow for new development while protecting Rindge’s natural beauty and scenic views.
Avoiding growth altogether may seem like the safe choice but doing nothing poses its own risks. Without a thoughtful plan for growth:
Rising costs will continue to put pressure on homeowners.
Our schools, emergency services, and public facilities may face funding challenges.
Rindge could miss opportunities to attract new businesses and investments that contribute to our long-term success.
By planning for responsible growth, we can expand our tax base in ways that reduce pressure on existing residents while still protecting our town’s character.
As Selectman, I will advocate for balanced, responsible growth that respects our rural charm, supports local businesses, and ensures we have the resources to maintain strong public services. My approach will focus on:
Transparency and Public Input: I believe growth decisions must be made with residents, not behind closed doors. I will encourage open dialogue and ensure public concerns are heard and addressed.
Smart Zoning Reform: I will support updates to zoning policies that encourage growth in appropriate areas while safeguarding established neighborhoods and conservation lands.
Long-Term Planning: I will advocate for a clear, actionable growth strategy that ensures Rindge is prepared for the future without sacrificing what we love about our town.
We can protect what makes Rindge special while creating opportunities for our town to grow in a way that strengthens our tax base, supports our schools, and keeps our community thriving. Responsible growth isn’t about change for the sake of change — it’s about smart planning to secure Rindge’s future.
Empowering town officials and department heads to perform their duties to the best of their abilities while supporting their needs.
Rindge thrives when its leaders, town officials, and department heads are empowered to perform their duties effectively. As a Selectman, I believe in fostering mutually supportive relationships that promote trust, accountability, and collaboration — ensuring that those who serve our town have the tools and resources they need to succeed.
Our town’s dedicated employees — from public safety personnel to administrative staff — are experts in their fields. They know what it takes to keep Rindge safe, functional, and thriving. My role as Selectman wouldn’t be to micromanage their day-to-day work — it would be to listen, support, and advocate for their needs, so they can focus on what they do best.
I believe town officials and department heads should feel trusted and valued for their knowledge and experience. By giving them the autonomy they need to manage their departments, we empower them to make informed decisions that benefit the entire community
Open dialogue between town leadership and department heads is essential. I’m committed to ensuring our leaders feel heard, their concerns are addressed, and they have a clear channel to voice ideas, needs, and priorities.
Empowerment isn’t just about trust — it’s about ensuring our leaders have the resources, training, and tools they need to perform their roles effectively. Whether it’s advocating for appropriate staffing levels, updated equipment, or professional development, I will actively support efforts that improve their ability to serve Rindge.
Building a successful town government requires mutual respect — town officials should feel empowered to lead, and residents should feel confident that leadership is accountable. As Selectman, I will encourage a culture of collaboration, ensuring that department heads, town employees, and elected officials work together to achieve shared goals.
Protecting natural landscapes and historic resources in town.
Rindge’s natural landscapes, open spaces, and historic resources are part of what makes our town so special. From our forests and wetlands to our scenic views and historic landmarks, these treasures connect us to our past while enriching our quality of life today.
I am committed to ensuring that conservation and preservation are priorities — not just to protect what we have now, but to ensure future generations can enjoy the same beauty, history, and rural charm that we value today.
Our town’s lakes, forests, and wetlands are vital to Rindge’s identity. These natural resources provide clean water, recreational opportunities, and critical wildlife habitats. Preserving these areas isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about protecting what sustains us.
Smart Growth Strategies: I will advocate for responsible development that balances economic growth with environmental protection. By encouraging growth in appropriate areas and safeguarding sensitive ecosystems, we can expand our tax base without compromising what makes Rindge special
Water and Land Protection: Rindge’s aquifers and wetlands are vital to our drinking water and overall environmental health. I will support efforts to strengthen protections for these critical resources to ensure they remain clean and viable for generations to come.
Open Space Preservation: I believe in finding creative ways to protect open spaces — whether through conservation easements, partnerships with land trusts, or responsible zoning policies that preserve our rural character.
Rindge’s rich history is part of its charm — from historic homes and structures to longstanding traditions that define our identity. Preserving these resources strengthens our community’s sense of pride and attracts visitors who appreciate New England’s heritage.
Historic Landmarks and Sites: I will support efforts to protect and maintain Rindge’s historic buildings and cemeteries, ensuring they are recognized as part of our town’s identity.
Balancing Growth with Character: As we plan for the future, I believe we must be thoughtful in ensuring new development reflects Rindge’s small-town character. Zoning updates and design standards can help preserve the look and feel of our community while still allowing for responsible growth.
Community Involvement in Preservation: Protecting our history requires community support. I’ll advocate for partnerships with local historical groups and volunteers to ensure Rindge’s stories and landmarks are preserved for future generations.
I believe that conservation and preservation are not obstacles to growth — they are essential to ensuring growth happens responsibly. By protecting what makes Rindge special while planning carefully for the future, we can ensure our town remains a place where families thrive, businesses succeed, and residents feel proud to call home.
Encouraging volunteerism and active participation in town affairs among all residents.
Rindge is more than just a place — it’s a community built on the dedication of its residents. Whether it’s coaching youth sports, serving on a town board, or volunteering for community events, engaged citizens are what keep Rindge strong and vibrant.
I believe that civic engagement is essential to good governance. When residents are informed, involved, and invested in their town’s future, Rindge thrives. That’s why I’m committed to encouraging volunteerism and ensuring that every voice is heard, valued, and respected.
Too often, people feel disconnected from local government or unsure how to get involved. As Selectman, I’ll work to break down those barriers by:
Creating Clear Pathways for Participation: I’ll advocate for improved communication — whether through newsletters, social media updates, or public forums — so residents understand how they can engage with town government.
Increasing Awareness of Volunteer Opportunities: Many residents want to get involved but aren’t sure where their skills are needed. I’ll push for a centralized resource that highlights open board seats, committee roles, and town initiatives in need of volunteers.
Hosting Regular Town Halls and Listening Sessions: I believe town officials should actively seek out public input, not just wait for people to come to meetings. By hosting quarterly town halls and creating more opportunities for informal conversations, we can ensure residents feel heard and included in decisions that shape Rindge’s future.
Volunteerism isn’t just about governance — it’s about building connections, strengthening our community, and celebrating what makes Rindge special. As Selectman, I will:
Establish a Volunteer Recognition Program: I believe it’s important to celebrate the contributions of those who give their time and energy to Rindge. By recognizing outstanding volunteers, we inspire others to get involved as well.
Create a Junior Selectman Program: By involving Rindge’s youth in town government, we can inspire the next generation of leaders. This initiative would allow local students to learn firsthand about town governance, while contributing fresh ideas and insights.
Support Volunteer-Led Initiatives: Whether it’s trail maintenance groups, local food drives, or school fundraising events, I will actively support and promote volunteer-driven efforts that strengthen our community.
I believe everyone has something valuable to contribute — whether it’s time, ideas, or expertise. By fostering a culture of inclusiveness, respect, and involvement, we can ensure that Rindge’s decisions reflect the voices of all residents, not just a select few.
Upholding honest, transparent, and respectful governance, with proactive solutions to issues.
Good governance starts with trust — and trust is built through honesty, transparency, and respect. As a Selectman, I believe residents deserve a town government that listens, communicates openly, and makes decisions in the best interests of the entire community.
I am committed to fostering a culture of accountability, proactive leadership, and civility to ensure Rindge residents feel informed, respected, and heard.
Transparency is more than just sharing information — it’s about ensuring residents understand the decisions that shape their town and have meaningful opportunities to provide input.
Open Communication: I will support consistent updates through newsletters, Board of Selectmen memos, and official social media channels to ensure residents are kept informed.
Accessible Government: I will advocate for clearer meeting agendas, improved public access to town documents, and expanded opportunities for residents to engage with town officials.
Public Involvement: I believe residents should be partners in decision-making. I will support quarterly town halls, informal listening sessions, and Quality of Life surveys to encourage conversation and feedback from the community.
Discussion of Zoning Articles at Deliberative Sessions: I will push to see that zoning articles are discussed rather than glossed over for transparency and awareness. While verbiage cannot be changed, voters have a right to know the context, purpose and reason, and implications of passing zoning articles just as any other warrant article on the ballot.
Elected officials must be accountable for their decisions and the impact those decisions have on the community. I believe in:
Thoughtful Decision-Making: Every decision I make will be guided by facts, community input, and what’s best for Rindge — not personal agendas or outside pressure.
Responsible Stewardship: I will advocate for thorough budget reviews to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and invested in the town’s most pressing needs.
Answering to Residents: As Selectman, I will always take responsibility for my actions and decisions — and I’ll never shy away from explaining my position to the people I serve.
Our town’s leaders set the tone for public discourse. I believe healthy debate is necessary — but it must be conducted with respect, patience, and professionalism.
Fostering Respectful Dialogue: I will promote a culture where differing viewpoints are welcomed, and debates remain constructive — even when opinions differ.
Promoting Collaboration: I believe the best ideas often come from a mix of perspectives. I will actively seek input from residents, department heads, and fellow board members to build consensus on complex issues.
Setting the Standard: As Selectman, I will lead by example — showing that leadership is not about being the loudest voice in the room, but about listening, learning, and building trust through respect and fairness.
Transparency, accountability, and civility go hand in hand with proactive leadership. I believe in identifying potential issues early, seeking input from the community, and working toward solutions before problems grow out of control.
Strong leadership is built on trust — and trust is earned through honesty, accountability, and respect. As Selectman, I will lead with transparency, listen to all perspectives, and ensure Rindge’s government works for everyone — not just a select few.
Supporting Rindge's seniors.
Rindge’s senior population is growing, and with that growth comes a responsibility to ensure that our older residents can continue to live independently, securely, and with dignity. As a Selectman, I believe our town must take a proactive approach to supporting seniors — one that goes beyond volunteer services and provides reliable, town-backed programs that meet their evolving needs.
Rindge’s seniors face several challenges, including rising property taxes, limited access to healthcare, and a lack of transportation services. While volunteers have done incredible work supporting seniors, these efforts need to be reinforced with sustainable town-supported programs.
Seniors living on fixed incomes are often disproportionately affected by rising property taxes. I will advocate for expanding existing tax relief programs to ease that burden, ensuring seniors can afford to remain in their homes. Some considerations would be:
Increasing Property Tax Exemptions for seniors meeting income requirements.
Introducing a Senior Tax Deferral Program that allows eligible seniors to defer property taxes until their home is sold or inherited — protecting those with limited incomes from financial strain.
Ensuring information about tax relief programs is clear, accessible, and actively shared with seniors in our community.
Navigating financial aid, healthcare programs, and support services can be overwhelming. I believe Rindge should create a Senior Services Coordinator position to:
Serve as a dedicated advocate for seniors within town government.
Connect seniors with available local, state, and federal resources.
Organize transportation, healthcare access, and financial aid programs to ensure no senior feels isolated or unsupported.
Limited mobility is a significant barrier for many seniors in Rindge. I will advocate for a Senior Transportation Initiative that offers:
A town-sponsored senior shuttle to provide reliable transportation for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and community events.
A voucher program for taxi, Uber, or other ride services to ensure non-driving seniors have access to essential services.
By improving mobility options, we can help seniors maintain their independence and stay connected to the community.
Rindge’s seniors often face challenges accessing healthcare due to a lack of nearby services. I will advocate for:
Establishing mobile health services or partnering with healthcare providers to offer pop-up clinics in Rindge for basic medical care.
Working with local pharmacies to introduce prescription delivery services to reduce transportation barriers.
Expanding access to telehealth services by promoting digital literacy programs for seniors and ensuring those services are accessible in town.
Many seniors aren’t aware of the resources available to them. I will support the creation of a Senior Resource Hub — both online and in print — that outlines:
Local, state, and federal assistance programs.
Contact information for key support services.
Clear instructions for applying for financial aid, home repair programs, and wellness resources.
In addition, I will advocate for quarterly senior town halls to connect seniors with local leaders, answer questions, and ensure their voices are heard.
Staying active and connected is vital to a senior’s well-being. I will support initiatives that:
Develop new senior recreation programs through the Recreation Department.
Explore the creation of a dedicated senior center to offer regular classes, social gatherings, and wellness programs.
Strengthen partnerships with local groups, churches, and the library to expand social opportunities for seniors.
Our seniors have spent their lives contributing to this community — and now it’s our responsibility to ensure they can continue to thrive here. By investing in tax relief, transportation, healthcare access, and social support, we can create a town where seniors feel valued, secure, and connected.
Rindge’s strength comes from its people — and that includes our seniors. As Selectman, I’ll work to ensure they have the resources, support, and services they deserve to live independently and with dignity.
Explore the feasibility of a Town Charter.
A Town Charter is more than just a governing document — it’s a framework that defines how our local government operates, outlines the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, and ensures transparency, accountability, and consistency in decision-making. As a Selectman, I believe exploring the development of a Town Charter is a proactive step toward securing Rindge’s future.
Currently, Rindge operates under a structure guided by New Hampshire’s general statutes. While this system has worked for us, a Town Charter offers an opportunity to:
Establish Clear Roles and Responsibilities: A Charter defines the powers and duties of town officials, boards, and committees — reducing confusion and ensuring everyone knows their role.
Protect the Rights of Residents: A Charter can include safeguards that guarantee residents’ rights to access information, participate in public meetings, and provide input on major town decisions.
Strengthen Financial Oversight: A Charter can outline clear budget procedures, ensuring fiscal responsibility and protecting taxpayer dollars.
Improve Accountability and Efficiency: With well-defined procedures in place, town officials can address issues faster, reduce bureaucratic delays, and maintain clear communication with residents.
Preserve Local Values: By adopting a Charter tailored specifically to Rindge, we can ensure that town governance reflects our community’s priorities — including protecting our rural character and promoting responsible growth.
Exploring a Town Charter isn’t about imposing a new system — it’s about giving Rindge residents a greater say in how their town is governed. I believe the process should be:
Transparent: Residents should be informed at every step, with regular updates, public discussions, and opportunities for input.
Inclusive: I will advocate for forming a Charter Commission composed of diverse community members — ensuring a broad range of voices shape the process.
Balanced: I believe a Charter should maintain Rindge’s traditions while improving efficiency, ensuring local control, and preparing the town for future challenges.
If Rindge moves forward with a Charter, I believe it should prioritize the following:
Clear Definitions of Authority: Outlining what the Select Board, Town Administrator, and other officials can — and cannot — do.
Enhanced Financial Oversight: Establishing clear policies for budgeting, spending, and financial reporting to ensure accountability.
Citizen Engagement & Rights: Including provisions that guarantee residents have access to public information and a voice in town decisions.
Support for Town Services: Ensuring essential services like police, fire, and public works are effectively managed and properly funded.
Flexibility for the Future: Building in mechanisms that allow Rindge to adapt to future challenges without compromising our core values.
Exploring a Town Charter is about ensuring Rindge’s government reflects our town’s unique character while preparing us for the future. As Selectman, I will advocate for a thoughtful, transparent approach that includes:
Public Education: Helping residents understand what a Town Charter is — and what it isn’t — to encourage informed participation.
Community Input: Ensuring residents have a say in how Rindge’s government is structured.
Balanced Solutions: Developing a Charter that prioritizes local control, fiscal responsibility, and responsive leadership.
A Town Charter isn’t about change for the sake of change — it’s about ensuring Rindge’s government is clear, accountable, and built to meet our community’s needs. As Selectman, I will support exploring a Charter in a way that protects Rindge’s values while preparing us for a strong, sustainable future.
Good governance is about leadership, accountability, and ensuring the town thrives for generations to come. As Selectman, I will approach these issues thoughtfully, responsibly, and with the best interests of all residents in mind.
